The Genesis of the Movement

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) The Gambia was founded on the fundamental understanding that political independence without economic sovereignty is incomplete. For too long, the immense potential of our country — our fertile lands, abundant waters, and energetic youth — has been stifled by mismanagement, a lack of visionary planning, and an economic structure designed to serve a connected few.

We exist to correct this historical injustice. The EFF is not a mere electoral vehicle; it is a grassroots engine for national redirection. We recognize that poverty, youth unemployment, and under-development are not the destiny of the Gambian people. They are the product of choices. Different choices, backed by discipline and political will, will produce a prosperous Gambia.

A Movement of the People

The EFF is rooted in the struggles and aspirations of the ordinary Gambian. This movement belongs to the mother in the market striving to feed her family, the farmer lacking mechanized support, the fisherman watching foreign trawlers deplete his waters, the overworked teacher, the dedicated nurse, and the unemployed graduate who still dares to hope for a better tomorrow.

We are fiercely Pan-African, unapologetically pro-poor, and radically committed to meritocracy, the rule of law, and zero tolerance for corruption. We envision a society where national wealth is generated where the people live — in our districts and villages — rather than concentrated solely in Greater Banjul.
