Privacy Policy

Economic Freedom Fighters — The Gambia is committed to protecting your personal information. This Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.

1. Who We Are

The Economic Freedom Fighters — The Gambia (“EFF Gambia”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is a registered political party operating in the Republic of The Gambia. Our principal address is OIC Highway, Old Yundum, West Coast Region, The Gambia. You may contact our Data Officer at info@effgambia.org.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you provide to us directly when you use our website forms. This includes:

  • Membership Application: Full name, date of birth, gender, national ID type and number, nationality, phone number, email address, residential address, region, constituency, district, nearest landmark, and reason for joining.
  • Volunteer Application: Full name, date of birth, gender, phone number, email address, nationality, location, volunteer skills and experience, availability, and personal motivation statement.
  • Donation Records: Full name, email address, phone number, country and address, donation amount, payment reference, and optional reason for donation.
  • Website Usage Data: Standard web analytics data such as pages visited, browser type, device type, and time of visit. This data is collected in aggregate and does not personally identify you.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • Process membership applications and issue membership numbers.
  • Register and coordinate volunteers across constituencies.
  • Process and acknowledge donations and issue receipts.
  • Contact you with party communications, updates, or events relevant to your region.
  • Comply with our legal obligations under the laws of The Gambia.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of our party register.

We will never use your personal information for commercial marketing purposes, nor sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases: (a) your explicit consent as given when you tick the consent checkbox in our forms; (b) our legitimate interests in operating a lawful political party and maintaining a member register; and (c) compliance with our legal obligations under applicable Gambian law, including the Information and Communication Act and the Political Parties Act.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in an encrypted cloud database provided by Supabase, a SOC 2 Type II certified platform. Access to your data is restricted exclusively to authorised EFF Gambia party officials and administrators. We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your membership or volunteer registration remains active, or as required by law. If you withdraw your membership or request deletion of your data, we will erase or anonymise your records within 30 days, unless we are legally required to retain them for a longer period.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • Object to the processing of your data.

8. Third-Party Services

Our website may use third-party services including Cloudinary (for document hosting) and FlipLink (for document viewing). These services have their own privacy policies. We do not share identifiable personal data with these providers.

9. Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for persons aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately and we will delete such information promptly.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. We will post any updated Policy on this page with a new effective date. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
